Just at the tail end of 2018, Vivo introduced some sets of affordable smartphones coming from the Y series. One of such phone is the Vivo Y95, which was initially launched in the Philippines before coming to India. Just this week, the same phone made its way to the Chinese market but under a different name. It is known as Vivo U1 in China. The phone also comes in more memory options for better price and flexibility.
Vivo U1 Features
The Vivo U1 features a Snapdragon 439 chipset and two more variants with 3GB RAM, which is more compared to the Y95. It comes with a 6.2 inch screen with HD+ resolution and waterdrop notch. The front-facing camera has an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 lens and it is different from that of the Y95.
At the back of the Vivo U1, you will find a dual camera setup which comprises of a 13MP f/2.2 main module and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. You will also find a fingerprint scanner at the back, but you can also use FaceWake as an alternative option to unlock your phone, which is Vivo’s version for Face Unlock.
The Vivo U1 comes with a 4030mAh battery and a microUSB port. It retains the same 3.5mm audio jack, offers IP58 protection, and runs on FunTouch 4.5 OS, based on Android Oreo.
Vivo U1 Price and Release Date
The Vivo U1 price in China are CNY799 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant, CNY999 for the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, and CNY1,199 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version. They will be available in three colours; Aurora Blue, Starry Night Black, and Aurora Red. All of them being gradients and different shades of purple/blus on the bottom side of the panel.
The Vivo U1 can be purchased from Vivo’s online store, but it will be shipped and released on February 26, 2019.
