While it has not been long since the Xperia 5 was released, Sony announced a new midrange smartphone in Japan today – the Xperia 8. The new phone comes with a 21:9 asoect ratio display, with a 6 inch diagonal in body that is quite similar to the Xperia 10 but has a Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back this time. Another visible change can be seen around the back where the Sony Xperia 8 packs a 12MP f/1.8 main shooter together with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera.
Sony Xperia 8 Features
At the front of the Xperia 8, we have the 6 inch FHD+ display with an 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. Unlike the flagship Xperia models, the Xperia comes with an LCD panel. The right side features the power fingerprint scanner combo and Sony also brought inits Side Sense touch sensors from the Xperia 1 and 5. Regarding dimensions, the phones has a dimension of 158 x 69 x 8.1mm and weighs about 170g.
Under the hood of the Sony Xperia 8, we have the Snapdragon 630 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD slot.
The phone is powered by a 2760mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The Xperia 8 is water and dustproof with an IP65/68 rating. Other key features include a 3.5mm headphone jack with LDAC for high resolution audio, NFC and an LED notification light.
Xperia 8 Price and Release Date in Japan
The Sony Xperia 8 is a Japan exclusive smartphone and it is expected to arrive later in October for a price of JPY54,000 ($505). The phone will be available in four different colours – Black, White, Blue, and Orange.
