The Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is officially the world’s first smartphone with dual notches. Without mincing words, it is actually a pretty good, compact phone. The phone comes with a 5.2 inches “freeform” display. Looking at the display, one notch houses the 8MP selfie camera, while the other one for the fingerprint reader.
Sharp Aquos R2 Compact Features
The screen of the Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is an IGZO panel with 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. In case you don’t know, Sharp is the company behind Razer’s high frame rate screen and Essential’s notched screen. It is an HDR10-enabled display protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

The Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, and runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card slot. This features of the Aquos R2 Compact sounds pretty cool.

The Sharp Aquos R2 Compact also boasts of a 3.5mm headphone jack, complete with Dolby Atmos support. The 2500mAh battery it came with will be charged by a USB-C port, which promises an intelligent charging procedure that extends the battery life.
Looking at the exterior, the Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is built around a metal body frame with an acrylic material on the back. The phone has a single 22.6MP camera with a 22mm f/1.9 lens, OIS, and electronic stabilization as well. It also have an IP68 waterproof rating.
