3. It is almost identical to the new iPhone 8
The iPhone 6S on top and the iPhone 8 on the bottom look nearly identical. If you value phone design more than any other features, then the iPhone X should be the iPhone of your choice. It has the freshest iPhone design since Apple released the iPhone 6 in 2014.

But the iPhone 6S also have an excellent design, and you will derive joy to know that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are almost identical to the new iPhone 8 models. Both two different generation iPhones have the same size of bezels around the display and the same overall shape. Their screen also has the same size and resolution.
4. Its metal back won’t shatter as easily as the iPhone 8 and iPhone X glass back.
The glass back you will find on the new iPhone X and iPhone 8 allows them to charge wirelessly using the Qi standard. Though it is a great innovation, it also means that they can easily get shattered after a drop.
The iPhone 6S aluminium back won’t crack easily like the glass one. (t might get some scratches after a drop, but it is less likely to break or crack than the glass found on iPhone 8 or iPhone X.
5. It charges just as fast as the iPhone 8 and iPhone X
The recently released iPhones come with the same charger as the iPhone 6S, this simply means that they will charge as the same speed.
6. It runs smoothly
The Apple A9 chip you will find inside the iPhone 6S is still a great performer. Apps might take a little bit longer to load on the iPhone 6S compared to the iPhone 8, but they still run perfectly smooth.
7. Its rear camera picture quality is still fantastic
The camera of the iPhone 6S recently overthrew those of the Samsung Galaxy phones as the best smartphone camera.
8. It has a headphone jack, while the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone X do not
If you are still a fan of the headphone jack in a smartphone and you still want to stick to a pure dongle-less iPhone experience, then the iPhone 6S and iPhone SE should be your choice. Even most Android phones have started ditching the headphone jack.

9. It still has a great screen
Apple made addition and improvements on the iPhone 8 and iPhone X screens, including TrueTone, which adjust the overall colout temperature to match the lighting in your environment, and a wide colour gamut for richer colours.
With all these, the screen of the iPhone 6S is still excellent. Its screen has the same sharpness and resolution as the recently released iPhone 8, and it reproduces colours suitable for browsing the web, watching videos, using apps, playing games and looking at photos.
The greater improvements were done to the iPhone X screen, such as a sharper and larger 5.8-inch display. But again, you will not feel as if you are missing much when you are using the iPhone 6S.
10. It runs iOS, the same software as the new iPhone 8 and iPhone X
With the iPhone 6S, you will get the same great iOS experience and Apple ecosystem, including timely updates, that you will get if you are using the iPhone 8 or an iPhone X. Tough there are no doubts you won’t get the cool new features you will find on the iPhone 8 or iPhone X, like the “portrait mode” in the camera app, but the cool part is that you are getting the same smartphone experience as every other iPhone.
Conclusion
Though the iPhone 6S still looks cool with all its features, below is what you will get when you spend more for the latest iPhone versions.
- Faster performance
- Better cameras
- A slightly better screen on the iPhone 8 and a drastically better screen on the iPhone X
- Extra features that are nice but not essential. like portrait mode, wireless charging, and fast charging. The latter two actually require extra purchases.
- Augmented reality
- A fresh design with iPhone X
- Water resistance
These are all improvements, , but you need to ask yourself if paying the extra $250 to $550 is really worth it when the iPhone 6S is still a good choice.
As a 6S user I can atest to your conclusions about the phone , however, I am about to upgrade to an 8 for one simple reason, the performance on the phone is being underminded be cellular network upgrade. As our carrier is working toward 5G the frequency bands our phones are compatible with become fewer & fewer, drastically hurting the real world performance of the phones. So unless Apple has programmed more frequency band compatibility into the 6S’s being sold, people may like the price, but will be sorely disappointed in its effectiveness as a usable phone. So please make sure people confirm this compatibility issue will not be a problem with the carrier they intend on using the phone with.
Hi Nark, it is still wise to upgrade.
