There are rumours going on right now about OnePlus getting set to launch a 7T Pro model in a couple of months time, and it might actually come to pass. OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau has told the Financial Times that his company is getting ready to release a new 5G smartphone in the fourth quarter of this year – that is between October to December. Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G which is only available from selected carriers across the world, the new device will get a global release date.
This is a mere speculation on our part, but this could mean that there is only going to be one 7T Pro model, with 5G built-in, and two different variations – one with 4G and the other with 5G just like we saw with the OnePlus 7 Pro. Obviously as the device is coming from OnePlus, we expect the new phone to use the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, but its difference from that of its predecessor remains unclear.
According to Lau, “if you want to be a premium phone in 2020, you have to be equipped with 5G technology.” He went on to say: “We believe with the development of 5G technology next year we can have an [even] better performance. With the upcoming 5G era approaching, we are going to invest more.”
OnePlus is looking to expand further in the United States and win more customers from Apple, Huawei, and Samsung in all parts of the world. The company has increased in both revenue and unit shipment volumes this year, and doubled its headcount to more than 1,700 employees.
