On Thursday, 31st August, the LG V30 was launched at IFA 2017 and the announcement was a bang to all faithful users of the brand as they now have another option of smartphone to purchase. It will be coming alongside a higher storage variant known as the LG V30+. Both variants are identical in all aspects and features except for the difference in storage capacities. The LG V30 was built in the same pattern as the LG G6 in terms of design, and it features a larger FullVision QHD + display, alongside a better audio capabilities from Bang & Olufsen, voice recognition, MIL – STD 810G rating for durability, IP68 dust and water resistance, and a dual camera setup with an aperture of f/1.6. This is the first in the smartphone camera industry. With all these features, the LG V30 will be giving a direct competition to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the upcoming iPhone 8.
LG V30 Release Date and Availability
The LG V30 release date is slated for September 21, as shipping will commence in the brand’s home market in South Korea. An expected rollout to all parts of the world will commence in the coming weeks, so you just need to keep your fingers crossed. The LG V30 will be available in various colours such as Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Cloud Silver, and Lavender Violet.
LG V30 Features
The LG V30 will come in a dual camera setup, a rear camera with 16MP sensor and 13MP sensor. The rear camera allows more light to enter the lenses which result in sharper and highly focused images. The camera are also built with crystal clear lens to enhance colour reproduction and clearer photographs. On the front panel, you will find a 5MP wide angle (90 degrees) camera with an aperture f/2.2.
OS, Procesor and Display
The LG V30 will run on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat with a refreshed and upgraded UI – UX 6.0+. However, there is a possibility that the Android Oreo update will be coming to the device soon.
The LG V30 also features a 6 inch QHD+ (1440 x 2880) OLED FullVision display with a resolution of 538ppi and HDR 10 support. The LG V30 is also a daydream compatible. It has a second always-on screen located above the main display, which is a replica of the one seen on its predecessor LG V20. The V30 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (clock speed and cores unclear as for now) coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM.
The LG V30 has an inbuilt storage of 64GB while the LG V30+ variant has that of 128GB. Both are expandable up to 2TB via microUAD card.
The V30 battery is rated at 3300mAh, and it has a quick charging capacity as it features quick charge 3.0. This is good news for users that love a considerable battery.
Audio and Sound
As confirmed by the brand, the LG V30 incorporates a 32bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC powered by Bang & Olufsen. The device comes with the earphones manufactured by B&O Play with 3 digital filters to produce proper sound by changing the decibel values and frequencies. It also comes with support for Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology for high-resolution audio streaming.
