  1. Processor

The processor of a laptop determines its speed and performance. If the task you intend using the laptop for requires high performance, then you should choose a laptop with high processing speed. You should also note that the prices of such laptops are usually high. You can simply choose between a “Core i5” or a “Core i7” laptop.

  1. Hard Drive and Memory (RAM) Capacity

Recently, I thought of buying my Laptop and I have in mind of buying one with at least 8GB RAM and 1 Terabyte Hard Disk storage. The reason is because I really want to meet up with the tasks I am carrying out. It is an upgrade from my current 6GB RAM and 700GB Hard Drive.

In the market today, you will find Laptops with Hard Drives ranging from 300GB to 1TB, and RAM sizes ranging from 4GB to 12GB. You should note that if you want to use the Laptop you intend buying for heavy graphical design or other tedious tasks, then you should choose one with at least 6GB RAM and 500GB Hard 700GB Hard Drive. But if you are using it for something less, then buying a laptop with lesser RAM and storage capacity won’t hurt.

  1. Graphics Card

We have two types of graphics card; the On Board graphics card, and the Dedicated graphics card. The on board usually shared with RAM while the dedicate is not. Laptops with dedicated graphics card usually cost more as it offers a better graphic experience. Well, this comes to play if you want to use the laptop for gaming, but it not, a laptop with an on board graphics card is still okay for you.

Brands of dedicated graphics card we have today are; ATI Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce Series. You should ensure that the laptop you intend to buy (if it is dedicated) uses one of these dedicated graphic cards.

  1. Soundcard

Next point in this Laptop buying guide is the soundcard of your proposed laptop. Having a laptop that produces good sound is more fun. A standard soundcard is good enough to meet all your sound requirements.

  1. Battery

The battery of a laptop is another important thing you should look for when buying a laptop this time around. You should go for a laptop with long battery life, preferably a minimum of 4 hours when charged to 100%. Any laptop battery that offers anything less you should be a no-go area.

  1. Professional or Home Use

This should be an important factor you should consider when buying a laptop this year. If you are a professional user or maybe you use your laptop to work from home, then you should choose one with high performance. On the other hand, if you are buying a laptop just to carry out some home task like browsing, emailing, listening to music, studying purpose, or watching movies, then you should choose one with moderate specifications and price.
