If you are a regular in the wearable smartwatch market, then Amazfit might be a familiar name. The wearable is well known for its simplistic, yet stylish activity trackers and the company has been under the care of Xiaomi for some time now, And this time around, they are releasing the second version of their smartwatch named Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2.

The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 was unveiled along with the Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2S premium edition variant. There is also another moniker spreading around, which is known as the Amazfit Pace 2, and it is just a hint that there might be a potential western release as well. The whole new model was built and improved on Amazfit’s original concept.

Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 Features
The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 came with its own Watch 2.0 platform, and it might however be the only potential downside for this wearable device. It came with a more premium build and bill of materials, compared to its first generation. It has a base made up of carbon fiber-reinforced polycarbonate. The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 bezels is made of polished ceramic, complete with 316L stainless steel navigation buttons and a 2.5D sapphire crystal face on the font.

The internals of the Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 also boast an excellent build. Underneath the exterior is a 1.34-inch, low-power color touch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. The Amazfit 2 is powered by a 1,2GHz dual-core CPU, coupled with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage (with just about 2GB accessible for users)
The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 came with a 280mAh battery, which powers up the device and keeps the lights on. The manufacturer made a claim that the battery can last up to 5 days without GPS, and 35 hours of intense usage, with positioning and full heart rate on. This battery feature places the wearable in strict competition with most of the bug brands.
Also, the Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 is highly effective when it comes to activity tracking. Looking at the hardware, it has a PPG heart rate sensor, Gyroscope, Triaxial Accelerometer, Barometer, a Geomagnetic sensor, an Ambient sensor, plus a Sony 28mm low-power GPS chipset.
The Amazfit Watch 2 can track a total of 11 kinds of sports devices. The wearable has waterproof features, with a 5ATM (Water-resistant to 50 meters) label, falling into a deep will not have a negative effect on it. The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 boasts of some fairly advanced metrics, such as oxygen uptake (VO2 max), exercise effect (TE), exercise load (TD), and recovery time.
As far as the two variants are concerned, it is surprising that there is no difference in hardware or materials between the two watches themselves. You can only witness a difference in the strap collection, as the premium version apparently ships with a sports and a leather 22mm strap.
Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 Price and Availability
The Amazfit Smart Sports watch 2 is available for preorder from today, and it goes for a price of CNY999 ($150), but the actual shipment will start on December 31, 2017. The Amazfit Watch 2 premium edition will be available as from January 9, 2018, and it will be priced around CNY1,499 ($226), but it could go as low as $200 due to alternative sources.
